Even cute rats are dangerous - reasons to keep rats away from your home

Most of us have seen comedy movies and cartoons depicting rats as cute creatures. Mickey Mouse, of course. Then there are movies like An American Tail, Stuart Little, Ratatouille, and A Mouse Tail. You also have cartoons like Tom and Jerry.

Some people can't help but think that the rats are just misunderstood. But that still doesn't negate the fact that rats can be dangerous to people living in the home. Rat attacks can harm people and damage property. And that means you need to take appropriate pest control measures.

Of course, you don't have to kill rats. You can also go with the catch and release method using the most effective human mouse traps. All you have to do is make sure you don't leave them near your home, or they will come back. And you don't want to leave them near other people's homes, as that means.

If you still believe that mice (and rats) are just cute and lovely creatures, here are some serious facts about the dangers posed by these mice.

Property damage

Can be as cute as rats, the harm they do is nothing to smile at. They can cause structural damage to homes and buildings, due to their tendency to cut almost everything.

They chew on books, clothes, paper and wood, making them useful for building their nests. They will also cut and bury in your furniture or car seats to make their hidden nest.

Insulation is a special goal. Rats will tunnel into the insulation inside your walls and attics. This is either to build a house or to collect the necessary soft materials for their nests. These rats and mice can also chew the insulation around the wires, which then causes the house to catch fire. It is estimated that 20% of all fires with unexplained causes are caused by rats.

They can also get into electrical appliances. Mice are known to chew on paintings, important documents, and even chewable family heritage.

Health hazards

This is probably the most serious threat. Rats leave their fall everywhere. And fecal matter can contaminate your food sources. When the intestinal fluid dries out, it can be dangerous to breathe.

Contamination of your food sources can lead to the spread of bacteria and viruses, and in the post-cod world, we should really take it seriously. Here are some examples of diseases that can be spread by a rat infection:

Black death

Also known as the Bobonic Plague, which spread from about 1347 to 1351, it is probably the most notorious epidemic ever. The latest epidemic was devastating, with more than 6.15 million deaths so far.

But the Black Death was well-known, as it killed almost half of Europe's population. These 25 million people were killed.

According to experts, bubonic plague is usually spread by the bite of a rat flea that is infected with the plague bacteria. This results in painful swollen lymph nodes, along with fever and diarrhea.

Many people think that plague is a disease of the past, but this is not true at all. From 2010 to 2015, there were 3,248 documented cases of bubonic plague.

Hunta virus

It is a family of viruses that can be spread by many types of mice. These rats include the cotton rat, the deer rat, the rice rat, and the white-footed rat, and these are the only rats found in the United States.

Viruses can cause many diseases, including:

Hunta virus pulmonary syndrome. HPS is a serious respiratory illness that can sometimes be fatal. It is spread mainly through rat infections.

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. It is a group of diseases that include Korean haemorrhagic fever, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, and nephropathy epidemic. Symptoms may include vascular leakage, severe shock, and severe kidney failure.

Mouse bite fever

You may have the disease through direct contact with infected mice, or through the use of food and water contaminated with infected mice and rats. This disease is also known as hewer hill fever when the source is contaminated food or water.

Early symptoms begin with joint pain, muscle aches and headaches with fever and itching. If left untreated, it can be a serious problem and can be fatal.

Salmonellosis

It is caused by Salmonella bacteria. It usually spreads to people when they eat food contaminated with animal feces, such as rat droppings.

In the United States, about 40,000 cases of salmonellosis are reported each year. But more minor cases are not usually reported (or even undiagnosed), so the actual number of infections could be 1.2 million cases each year. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain and soreness, and fever.
